Shining Light Outreach Center exists to proclaim the love of God to the underserved people in the city of Charleston, MO and in Mississippi County, MO.  This essential ministry provides food pantry and clothes closet for over 400 families per month.  While food and clothing is given out each week, Shining Light offers a large-scale food giveaway on the third Saturday of every month.  This event requires numerous volunteers to sort the food, give the food, and carry the food to the cars of those who receive it.

  

Shining Light also works with partners to provide 700 back-to-school backpacks for families who have need.  They also organize a large-scale Christmas program that provides gifts for needy children/families and also provides a meal on Christmas day. Shining Light is committed to building healthy, Christ-centered families through meeting physical needs.   

In addition to meeting the physical needs of the people in these communities, Shining Light actively shares the Gospel through a weekly service on Sunday afternoons, summer day-camp experiences for children, and Bible studies throughout the year.

 

Lynwood has been a financial partner with Shining Light for several years and is committed to expanding this partnership by sending teams to work alongside as they meet needs in the community and share Christ with those that they serve.
